Moremi Game Reserve

nestled within the eastern part of the Okavango Delta, offers one of the most enriching and diverse safari experiences in Botswana. This reserve covers roughly 40% of the Okavango Delta, blending permanent waterways with drier areas, creating a mosaic of landscapes that support an incredible diversity of wildlife. Established in 1963 by the local Batawana people, Moremi was the first wildlife sanctuary in Africa to be created by indigenous Africans.

Wildlife in Moremi is renowned for its exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities. It is home to nearly 500 species of birds and a vast array of mammals, including the African Big Five (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and buffalo). The reserve is particularly noted for its robust populations of leopard and wild dog. Other commonly sighted animals include giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of antelope species.

Moremi Game Reserve’s combination of stunning landscapes, abundant wildlife, and the range of safari activities make it a jewel in Botswana’s tourism crown. It encapsulates the heart and soul of the Okavango Delta, offering an unforgettable safari experience that resonates with the essence of wild Africa.
