Lake Naivasha & Nakuru Region

Lake Naivasha is famous for its strong populations of hippos and flamingos. There are over 1,500 hippos in the area, and you are almost guaranteed to see one. The lake is a birder’s paradise as it is home to over 400 bird species.

Crescent Island Walking Tour – is a unique destination that offers visitors the opportunity to explore the island on foot, surrounded by an array of wildlife, including zebras, giraffes, and wildebeest. Visiting Crescent Island gives visitors access to the entire island and the opportunity to explore its diverse wildlife and scenery.

Lake Nakuru National Park – On the floor of the Great Rift Valley, surrounded by wooded and bushy grassland, lies the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park. Visitors can enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake Nakuru itself to the surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges. Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for bird watching, hiking, picnic and game drives. The lake cruise is also popular for bird and wildlife viewing. The possibilities of spotting the rhino in the wild are higher at Nakuru National Park.

Lake Elementaita Reserve – located between Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru in the Rift Valley of Kenya. The salt-lake is known for its rich avifauna, among other huge concentrations of Greater and Lesser flamingos. The flamingos, however, have severely declined after the Tilipia fish has been introduced. As part of the UNESCO Kenya Lake System World Heritage Site, Lake Elementaita is globally recognized as a natural treasure to be preserved, protected and appreciated.

It also includes a Wildlife Conservancy of Soysambu will ensure that this landscape provides increased value to Kenya, its people and the wider international community through sustainable conservation and enjoyment of it as a national treasure and Heritage. The park has permanent hot water springs that act as the breeding area for tilapia, which are preyed on by the pelicans.
