A beach and historical combo of this ancient trading post in the Indian Ocean.
Stone Town offers some very good hotels based on ancient homes. Some are purpose-built hotels too. The weekend (Fri & Sat) is an activity hub for nightlife in the Stone Town when night clubs and bars are open till early hours.
After 3 day of activity a huge dose of R&R is strongly recommended at a beach resort.
Day 1: ARRIVAL – STONE TOWN HOTEL
Meet & Greet outside the arrivals hall at Zanzibar Airport. Transfer to your choice of hotel in the Stone Town for next two nights.
Optional evening visit to the night clubs of Zanzibar. It is advisable to use licenced taxi or hotel vehicle. One can walk to these venues too, depending on the location of your hotel.
Day 2: STONE TOWN & TURTLE ISLAND
Depart after breakfast to savour the flavours of Zanzibar.
STONE TOWN TOUR (HALF DAY) – This tour will give you an opportunity to visit various workshops of artists within walking distance to visit them in their natural working environment.
Your tour begins in Stone Town, where you will meet around four different artists specialising in different art and artistry. There are few artists such as Bayuu, Hamza, Mwana Khamis and many other art names in Zanzibar.
You will get an opportunity to meet these artists and also visit their works shops in Zanzibar. You will also pass through Jafferji House and Spa, constructed by Javed Jafferji who is also the island’s most famous photographer. When you visit this boutique hotel, you will see his photographic work displayed in the hotel.
End your tour with a stop at one of the rooftop bars/coffee shops of Stone Town hotels or at the seaside cafes. Kickback and have a Zanzibari coffee, with an assortment of traditional Zanzibari delicacies.
Post lunch depart for Turtle Island / Prison Island – Turtle Island in Zanzibar, also known as Changuu Island (Prison Island), is one of the most gorgeous locations that has been discovered. The turquoise blue water is crystal-clear, and the sand is white and velvety. The landscapes are breath-taking and unforgettable, causing me and many others to dream of coming back again and again.
It’s no wonder that this is one of the most popular destinations today. On this trip you will encounter huge yet gentle sea tortoises, which you can pet and feed while enjoying this one-of-a-kind opportunity to get close to nature in a beautiful setting.
Zanzibar is a spectacular archipelago opposite the shores of Tanzania, and Turtle Island is one of its lovely islands. The island is not very large, and it is covered with thick greenery and white, sandy beaches. It is especially famous for its exotic animals, including giant sea tortoises, who can be seen warming themselves in the sun or swimming in the clear waters, and which you can pet and feed. There are many other types of wild animals on the island, including dolphins, fish, and colourful birds.
Access to the island is permitted for leisure and tourism purposes only, so it does not have any stores or local residents. However, what it does have is an abundance of tortoises that you can feed and enjoy, and clean, transparent water where you can dive in and swim. On the island, you will also find a small vacation site that offers a range of activities for guests, including snorkeling, kayaking, and fishing.
(Lunch and any beverages are on your own account)
Evening at leisure for some more nightlife activity. Overnight at your Stone Town hotel.
Day 3: SPICE FARM & THE BEACH
Check out after breakfast. Your guide and vehicle will escort you to a Spice Farm to learn about Zanzibar’s largest export of cloves and other spices and has been used as a welcome stop over for the many merchants exploiting the trade winds on route to India.
What You Can Expect: Drive along quiet and scenic Zanzibar roads offering splendid views of the rolling hillside and visiting small rural villages in Zanzibar Islands. Next, you will stop to sense, taste and dazzle the tropical spices of Zanzibar at Kidichi and Kizimbani rural Village. Spend some time to sense vanilla, nutmeg, saffron, cloves, lipstick and ginger. Learn their typical uses plus in-depth history from your expert Guide. Sit on a beautiful bench to taste tropical seasonal fruits while your expert guide tells you about historical information of fruits. Purchase some fresh spices direct from the farm.
Onwards to your beach resort. Afternoon at leisure. Watch the sunset from the resort sipping your choice of cocktail. Overnight at the beach resort.
