Travel access around one of Africa’s most iconic natural wonders has just become significantly easier. The Victoria Falls border post between Zambia and Zimbabwe is now officially operating 24 hours a day, following an immediate directive issued on 13 November by Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage.
Previously running from 06:00 to 22:00, the Zimbabwean side of the crossing will now remain open throughout the night, creating seamless movement for rail, road, and pedestrian travellers.
Set atop the historic Victoria Falls Bridge, the border serves as a major artery for visitors exploring both sides of the Falls, as well as those connecting to regional hubs such as Livingstone, Hwange, and the Zambezi corridor.
A Boost for Tourism & Cross-Border Mobility
The 24-hour operation is expected to enhance:
- – Tourist flexibility, allowing sunrise and late-night movements
- – Regional connectivity for safari itineraries and overland travel
- – Logistics and trade flow between Zambia and Zimbabwe
- – Access to hotels, lodges, and adventure activities across both borders
For travellers, tour operators, and hospitality partners, the extended hours mark a strategic improvement to one of Southern Africa’s most visited gateways.
